Can I keep my old number with my new Global Gossip SIM?
Yes. If your old number is not locked to a contract, and you are the owner of the previous mobile account, you will be able to port your old number into your new Global Gossip SIM. Just let our staff know when you purchase the SIM.
Does it cost money to receive a calls or text messages on my Global Gossip mobile?
No, all incoming calls and text messages in Australia are free.
How can I top up my mobile phone/add more minutes to my card?
The different ways you can recharge your Global Gossip mobile are: 1) Online through www.globalgossip.com with VISA, Mastercard or American Express 2) Over the phone with VISA, Mastercard or American Express through Customer Service by dialling 126789 from your mobile. 3) By texting “topup” followed by a whole dollar amount and the last 4 digits of the registered credit card to 0410 467 747, for example ‘topup XX YYYY’, where XX is the recharge amount and YYYY is the last four digits of the credit card number. You must register your credit card online or by calling up Customer Service to use this option. 4) At any Global Gossip location, go to www.globalgossip.com/locations for a complete list of locations 5) Through any epay location (available at most petrol stations and convenience stores, lookout for the epay logo)
How can I check how much credit I have left?
The different ways you can check your remaining credit are: 1) Online through www.globalgossip.com. Just sign in using your account details and follow the links. 2) By texting “balance” to 0410 467 747. 3) Over the phone by dialling 126789 and speaking to Customer Service.
How do I make an international call?
Dial '+' or 0011 followed by the country code, area code and local number.
What codes do I use for dialling within Australia from my SIM?
To dial a landline in Australia, you will need to start with the area code; NSW and ACT – 02 VIC and TAS – 03 QLD – 07 SA, WA and NT – 08 Followed by the eight digit number. When dialling a mobile simply dial starting with 04.
My phone was lost/stolen. What should I do?
The first thing you need to do is contact Global Gossip Customer Care (1300 73 83 53) to get your account locked to prevent misuse. You can then go into any Global Gossip retail store and request a SIM swap and your details and credit will be transferred to your new SIM and you can keep your original mobile number. Charges may apply for this.
Does my mobile service work outside Australia?
Your Global Gossip mobile will only work within Australia. However, you can continue using your Global Gossip card (included in your SIM pack at time of purchase) to make calls, on Global Gossip PCs and Wifi.
How do I send text messages?
To send a text with Australia, enter the number starting with 04. For international texts, type + in front of the country code then the mobile number. For example, to send a text to the UK dial +44 followed by the mobile number without the first zero.
Can I use the Internet from my Global Gosssip SIM?
Yes. Our rates for doing this are on the website. The internet and other data services are only available on “data capable” handsets. To set up internet leave username and password blank and change the APN to purtona.net. If you need any further assistance please call Customer Service on 126789
What sort of phone can I use with my Global Gossip SIM?
You can use any phone locked to the Vodafone Australia network or an unlocked phone which is not currently under any contract both internationally as well as with an Australian mobile carrier. If you are using an international phone please check with the company you purchased the phone from to make sure there are not any restrictions.
How can I check my call records?
The last 25 call records on your account will be displayed on www.globalgossip.com. Sign in and follow the links.
Where can I find current rates for my Global Gossip mobile?
Mobile rates can be found at globalgossip.com/mobile. For international rates go to globalgossip.com/mobile/searchrates.aspx.
What is the difference between Locked and Unlocked handsets?
Locked handsets can only be used with a SIM from the network they were purchased from. If you purchase a locked handset through Global Gossip you will only be able to use a Global Gossip SIM in that phone. Unlocked phones can use a SIM card from any network in them.
I purchased a handset from Global Gossip and it is faulty. What should I do?
You will need to contact the manufacturer of your handset directly and you will need to provide them with a copy of the receipt that was given to you at the time of purchase.
Can I use a Global Gossip SIM card with a Blackberry handset?
Any BlackBerry branded software (ie: software created by BlackBerry, licensed by BlackBerry such as BlackBerry Messenger, BlackBerry Email and BlackBerry Browser) can only be used with a BlackBerry data plan with a direct link to BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) and BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service). At this point of time Global Gossip does not sell any BlackBerry data plans therefore any BlackBerry branded software will not be compatible with Global Gossip mobile data. We recommend customers wishing to use mobile internet to download Opera Mobile due to its availability and relative similarity to the Blackberry browser. Please note that any costs or damages incurred by attempting to install or having installed a third party application are not the responsibility of Global Gossip. Any installations are to be done at the customers own risk. Customers are able to make standard voice calls and send text messages without any issues.
